I would love to have the ability to get archival in a downloadable form such as a zipped file or the like that I can keep on my computer and my back-up drive! I like the idea of a CD but I think that should be an extra option that one can pay for (not an automatic part of the service). I think it would be less expensive and space/time consuming to archive digitally. I do like the yearly refresh of the download though and that this should also be controlled/managed by the owner of the pages. Great concept! Please do it soon so that we can all start backing up our work!!!

It would be cool (and possibly profitable for you) to email the site-owner once or twice a year (like the baby's birthday and the Holidays) and offer them a CD-based copy of their page (of course, allowing people to opt-out of those emails). Or make it part of the Premium subscription that on a certain day every year (chosen by the site-owner), you just automatically mail out a copy of everything posted since that date last year. I don't know much about web-page formats other than basic HTML, but some sort of format that the computers of the future will be able to read? So that kids can look at the discs when they actually DO care? :)

Also, since people love to personalize, you could see if you can make it to where they can design the CD case insert and/or the sticker on the CD...a couple of basic designs and a font-choosing system? Of course, for an additional fee. :)

Hi ej,

We have some plans for a few different ways to down/"export" your book, but we haven't decided for sure which formats we will suppor. Do you have specific preferences on how you'd like to be able to get your book back from the site?

Hi All,

I really like the concept. As my wife pointed out, this is the kind of thing the child won't really be interested in until they are 30. I recognize the value for the family during the early years but I would love to have a way to archive this in a format that we can save locally.

Is there anything like this planned?

Thanks

ej
