"No Stories or Growth Chart Update Appearing"

Hi everyone,

I have noticed something strange here. In my profile that I setup when I first registered on the website, I set my time zone to be:

GMT -6 US/Canada/Central

I noticed that when I went to make my first "story" post, it showed the post time as Eastern time instead of Central time by default. That is the only thing that was wrong. The date was correct and all other information was correct. Anyways, I changed the time to Central time, made the post, which was a basic little welcome post, then submitted it. When I submitted it, I was able to see it in my son's "book" and I thought all was well. I navigated away from the "My Book" tab and when I came back my welcome post under "My Book" was gone. I thought that was strange, so I went to the "Growth" tab, and made a post about our son's growth that we found out about today at the doctor's office. Again, I was able to make the post without an issue, it took me to it so it was viewable to me, I navigated to the "My Book" tab, then immediately navigated back to the "Growth" tab and my growth post that I had just made vanished as well. So, at this point, the one post I made under "My Book" is gone and the one post I made under "Growth" is gone. Can someone shed some light on this, because I cannot use a service like this if posts are going to vanish.

Here's to a quick resolution (Cheers!) lol

Hmm, over three days and still no response?

I still have the same problem. When I post a "story," it does not appear. The first "test story" I made finally posted a day later with a post date of November 1999? Something is quite wrong here. Can someone please help ASAP? Otherwise, I will be moving to another provider to get a website for son setup.

I'm really sorry for the slow response Jason. We're working on the issue, and should have it fixed shortly. We've been so busy lately adding features, that we haven't had a chance to check the forum. Again sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Jason - I'm just trying to look into this problem. It sounds very similar to what some other people have had before (which I thought I'd fixed!). I can't seem to find any posts in what I think is your account though, so it's difficult to diagnose the problem exactly.

Are you still using the site?

Good morning! I'm not sure if Jason is still using the site, but I'm a new user and seem to have the same issue. I published a post this morning, but nothing shows up on the baby's book. I also can't see where to edit or review the post in any account history (I'm new, so I'm not quite sure where to look), but my photo count has gone down by two (the number I uploaded with the post).

Edit: Just wanted to update this to say that my story did eventually appear, about an hour after posting. My time zone is set correctly for my area, but that time zone doesn't transfer to the posts I make.

Hi Erin, definitely sounds like you're getting the same problem. I've narrowed this down to all being related to timezones (if any of you have ever developed any globalized software you'll know that timezones are a nightmare to deal with! :) ).

I'm looking at making a couple of changes:
1. Making it so that if a post is dated in the future, it will still immediately appear within your book (rather than attempting to wait until the date on it, and then publishing "automatically"), and
2. Improving our support for timezones, which is obviously a bit broken at the moment :-/
Hopefully at least the first one will be done today or tomorrow, but given that it's 4th of July weekend here in the US, the other one might take a little longer to get sorted out and up on the live site.

We'll keep you posted.

I've posted before without any problems, but today, I uploaded a picture, typed up a post, and it never appeared...

I thought I could just go an redo it, but it deducted a picture from my allotted amount. Any ideas where it went?

Hi Heather. I've just taken a look at your account and found that there was a post there where the date was stored incorrectly, so it was showing up at the very start of your book (Weeble wobble entry). I've changed the date on that post so it's hopefully in the right place now.

Is that the photo upload that you were having problems with? If not please let me know and I'll see if we can locate it! I'm still looking into how/why the date didn't store properly so we can stop this from happening again.

Well, I saw it in the right spot a couple of hours ago, and now it's dated Nov of 1999 at the beginning of the book again...I tried changing the date myself, but it didn't work. So I don't know now to make it where it should be: July 25, 2008.

As far as the growth chart goes, does it display the weights and length somewhere? I entered it as part of the post, but they don't get displayed anywhere in the post. I know it keeps track of the most current, but it would be nice if the measurements were recorded in the individual posts too.

Hi Heather - I'll have to take another look to see why that post in particular is resetting its date like that. Obviously you should be able to change it yourself and have it save to whatever you like.

Also it looks like the specific theme you're using doesn't have the height/weight displayed for Growth Chart entries (normally they do show that info). We'll fix that up soon - thanks for pointing it out!

I'm so sorry for the delay Heather. I was out of town for a week (Ray got married, congratulations!) and have been trying to catch up on everything since then. I don't have an answer for you just yet, but will let you know as soon as I have one.
